In June 2023, Panama hosted the third regional simulation for humanitarian assistance (SIMEX) in Central America. The event, featuring urban search and rescue teams along with key actors from Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Panama, and the Dominican Republic, served as a practical platform to implement the newly revised Regional Mechanism for Humanitarian Assistance of the Central American Integration System (Mec-Reg/SICA).

The Second Caribbean IDRL Workshop, held from November 7-8, 2023, aimed to enhance regional frameworks for disaster relief and humanitarian assistance. Organized by IFRC Disaster Law in collaboration with the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) and the French Red Cross, the event gathered more than 100 participants, including government representatives, civil society, and Red Cross National Societies from the Caribbean.

Between June 5-7 2023, National Red Cross and Red Cross Societies in the Americas came together in Nassau, Bahamas for the XXII Red Cross Inter-American Conference with aimed to foster cooperation and networking among National Societies to address common humanitarian challenges and demonstrate their added value as an auxiliary to governments.

A historic pre-disaster agreement to strengthen disaster preparedness and response in Madagascar has been signed by the National Bureau of Disaster and Risk Management, the Malagasy Red Cross and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC).

Community, national, regional and international humanitarian responders came together for Fiji's Earthquake and Tsunami Response National Exercise in October 2023.

Asia Pacific is facing an unprecedented escalation in climate-related disasters. Recent flooding in Afghanistan and Pakistan, droughts in China and Kiribati and heatwaves in India and Japan show that these disasters have the potential to cause widespread disruption and severely impact the lives and livelihoods of millions of people.

The inaugural Pacific Week of Anticipatory Action brought together leaders and civil society representatives from 15 Pacific Island Countries, along with regional partners including the United Nations (UN) and the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC).
