In 2014, the IFRC published a report on International Disaster Response Law (IDRL) in Pakistan. The report surveyed the laws and procedures applicable to international disaster assistance in Pakistan and identified areas where the legal framework could be strengthened. This research influenced the development and adoption of Pakistan’s “Host Country Guidelines for International Assistance”. In 2020, the Pakistan Red Crescent clarified its legal status and strengthened its auxiliary role through strong advocacy.
Pakistan was one of the countries included in a study of legal preparedness for regional and international disaster and pandemic response in South Asia.
