Lao Red Cross and IFRC Disaster Law work together on disaster law, with the aim of supporting the development of robust and climate-smart disaster risk management laws in Laos. Our combined efforts have contributed to the development of a new Disaster Risk Management Law. We continue to work on disaster law in Lao, including by supporting national authorities to develop regulations to implement the new law.
IFRC Disaster Law has also conducted significant research on disaster law in Lao. In 2009, we published a report on Legal Preparedness for Responding to Disasters and Communicable Disease Emergencies in Lao PDR. More recently, we have conducted a desk review of the domestic implementation of AADMER (the ASEAN Agreement on Disaster Management and Emergency Response) in the ASEAN Member States, including Lao.
