IFRC Disaster Law has influenced the development of many new legal provisions on disaster risk management in Cambodia, including provisions based on the International Disaster Response Law (IDRL) Guidelines, through adoption of a new national disaster management law in 2015.
Cambodian Red Cross, with support from IFRC Disaster Law and in partnership with the National Committee for Disaster Management, facilitates dissemination of the Law on Disaster Management 2015, and is engaged in developing national and local legislation.
IFRC Disaster Law has conducted substantial research on disaster law in Cambodia including on legal preparedness for disasters and communicable disease emergencies, the implementation of AADMER (the ASEAN Agreement on Disaster Management and Emergency Response), and on the development of subsidiary disaster legislation.
