Bangladesh

Bangladesh is one of the most disaster-prone countries in the world. IFRC Disaster Law works closely with Bangladesh Red Crescent Society to reduce vulnerability and build resilience to disasters through effective law and policy. Bangladesh Red Crescent Society is supporting its government on international disaster assistance law and utilisation of the IFRC's Checklist on Law and Disaster Risk Reduction, particularly in relation to implementation and capacity strengthening at the local level. Research into International Disaster Response Law in Bangladesh is underway and research has previously been conducted on gender-based violence during disasters in Bangladesh.

Bangladesh was one of the countries included in a study of legal preparedness for regional and international disaster and pandemic response in South Asia.
