Panama

In 2017, the Government of Panama, with the support of the World Food Programme and IFRC, launched a logistics and humanitarian hub to enhance coordination and cooperation efforts of humanitarian actors in the region. IFRC Disaster Law worked with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to develop an International Disaster Response Law (IDRL) based on the IDRL Model Act. The draft received positive feedback from key agencies in 2018, however progress stalled after a change of administration in 2019. IFRC Disaster Law and the Red Cross Society of Panama are currently advocating to put the IDRL law back on the Government's agenda.
