President of Panama highlights Red Cross efforts in speech to UN General Assembly

"Only together, all countries, with solidarity and cooperation, we can move forward", - President of Panama, Laurentino Cortizo.

In his speech to the UN General Assembly, the President of Panama, Laurentino Cortizo, expressed his gratitude to the Red Cross for its support in the distribution of international humanitarian assistance during the COVID-19 pandemic.

"We have put our infrastructure at the service of the region, making it possible that through the Regional Logistics Center, the UN World Food Program and the International Red Cross, humanitarian assistance in the form of supplies, medicine and medical equipment has been distributed to more than 30 countries. Only together, all countries, with solidarity and cooperation, we can move forward", said President Cortizo.

The 75th session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA 75) was held from Tuesday, 15 September 2020. The theme for this event is: 'The Future We Want, the UN We Need: Reaffirming our Collective Commitment to Multilateralism'. In his vision statement, the President of the United Nations General Assembly, Hon. Volkan Bozkır pledged to give a voice to the most vulnerable, namely, refugees, immigrants, and stateless persons through the United Nations.
