Maldives

Maldivian Red Crescent is a key advisor to its government on disaster law. The Maldives disaster management act establishes the institutional framework for disaster risk management in the country, including creating a National Disaster Management Authority. The development of the new act was supported by Maldivian Red Crescent and IFRC Disaster Law, who continue to work towards strengthening the disaster risk management legal framework in the Maldives. 

Maldives was one of the countries included in a study of legal preparedness for regional and international disaster and pandemic response in South Asia.
