Sea-level rise, increasingly frequent and severe hazard events, environmental degradation, urbanisation — these are just some of the challenges faced by countries in East Asia. With disasters threatening to displace millions of people in East Asia every year, and climate change threatening the livelihoods of already vulnerable communities, we strive to meet these challenges by advocating for and influencing robust disaster laws.
Working alongside Red Cross and Red Crescent National Societies, our team focuses on tailored technical assistance, offering our expertise in international disaster response law, risk reduction and other key aspects of disaster risk management to assist governments and regional partners to strengthen their disaster laws, policies and procedures.
