Following the adoption of the new disaster response law in Turkmenistan in 2020, IFRC Disaster Law is committed to providing continued technical support to the National Red Crescent Society of Turkmenistan (NRCST), Government and the legislature in the implementation of the new law, including dissemination, capacity building of government stakeholders and facilitation of simulation exercises. IFRC Disaster Law will also provide the necessary assistance in introducing the needed changes into subsidiary legislation such as bylaws, regulations and procedures.
The First Meeting of the Leadership of the Commonwealth of Independent States’ National Societies was held on September 2025 in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan. The event provided an important platform to discuss priority issues in the context of ongoing work, programmatic activities, and opportunities for cooperation. During the meeting, the IFRC Disaster Law team presented the IFRC developed instruments, including the IDRL Guidelines and the Revised RCRC Model Law, fostering dialogue on strengthening legal frameworks for disaster preparedness and response across the region.
