In the aftermath of Hurricane Maria, which devastated Dominica in 2017, IFRC Disaster Law engaged with the government in a policy assessment that benchmarked the response against the International Disaster Response Law (IDRL) Guidelines. The results of this policy assessment will be published later in 2021.
In 2019, Dominica Red Cross Society was invited by the government to comment on the draft Comprehensive Disaster Management Bill. Currently, the Bill is still before cabinet awaiting approval, before being brought to parliament.
