As part of a partnership between IFRC and UNICEF, in 2021 IFRC Disaster Law supported the development of the report Gender responsive disaster risk management: An analysis of gender integration in national and regional disaster risk management frameworks in Eastern and Southern Africa. The report explores the extent of integration of gender considerations, including gender-based violence (GBV) risk mitigation, prevention and response considerations, in national and regional DRM legal and policy frameworks in countries and intergovernmental organisations across Eastern and Southern Africa, including in Somalia.
In addition, as part of a larger project on promotion of livelihoods and resilience coordinated by the German Red Cross, IFRC Disaster Law conducted an online legislative advocacy training session with the Somali Red Crescent aimed at supporting the National Society have a better understanding on what advocacy is and that is necessary for the development of an advocacy message and strategy in November 2021.
