An introductory training module on international disaster response laws, rules and principles is available to the general public on the IFRC Learning Platform. This module should be useful for anyone interested in the law of international disaster relief, from the merely curious to grizzled experts.
Through dialogue and interactive puzzles, the module painlessly provides an overview of some of the most common legal problems in international disaster relief operations in less than thirty minutes. It also presents existing international laws and norms in this area, including the IDRL Guidelines.
To get started, simply register for the IFRC E-learning Platform and sign up for the course under the tab for “Disaster Management”. Registration and access are free.
The module is also available in French and Spanish, Arabic and Russian versions of the online training are currently under development and are due to be completed later in 2011.
