Comings and goings at the IFRC’s IDRL programme

The IDRL Programme is pleased to introduce some new faces on its team.

Olav Ofstad (in the picture, second from the right, top row) took up the post of IDRL Coordinator for the Asia-Pacific Zone in May. Ofstad brings with him a wealth of experience as a practicing lawyer in Norway and in numerous international postings with as a diplomatic officer, with the UN, NGOs and the Red Cross, including, most recently, service as head of the IFRC’s delegation in Serbia. He is based in Kuala Lumpur.

Marta Duro (first from the left, top row) began as IDRL Delegate for Africa in May. Duro, a Portuguese lawyer, is new to the Red Cross / Red Crescent family, having previously served in legal advisor positions for UNDP in East Timor and Sudan. She is based in Johannesburg.

Audrey Baete (second from the right, bottom row) also recently joined the IDRL Geneva team as legal intern. Baete is a graduate of the Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian Law

This month, the programme will also bid farewell to Ana Torres Jaeger (second from the left, bottom row). Since beginning her work in February, Jaeger has worked on a number of projects, including extensive research on legal issues in disaster risk reduction, organizing a regional training for European National Societies and the production of this newsletter. She leaves with our thanks for her hard work.
