IDRL Guidelines unanimously adopted

The IDRL Programme is pleased to report that, on November 30th, the members of the International Conference of the Red Cross and Red Crescent unanimously adopted the Guidelines for the Domestic Facilitation and Regulation of International Disaster Relief and Initial Recovery Assistance. The International Conference is the highest policy-making body of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement and gathers all components of the Movement as well as all State parties to the Geneva Conventions. This year’s session was attended by over 1500 delegates and observers. The adoption of the IDRL Guidelines is the fruit of a global consultation process over a period of 18 months involving over 150 Governments, 140 National Societies, and 40 UN agencies and NGOs. These consultations, including 5 high-level regional forums, helped to shape and refine the final version of the Guidelines and led to the overwhelming consensus on the document.
