The second in the series of four regional consultations on IDRL took place from the 12th to 14th of December in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia with the high-level participation of 130 persons from Governments, Red Cross and Red Crescent National Societies, International Organisations, NGOs and the private sector. The Forum was co-convened by the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and the Malaysian Red Crescent and hosted by the Government of Malaysia. The Asia-Pacific Forum on IDRL is preliminary to the 30th International Conference of the Red Cross and Red Crescent in November 2007, to which recommendations on how the existing legal framework for international disaster response might be strengthened will be presented.
