In 2019, IFRC Disaster Law assisted with efforts to establish a legal status agreement to allow IFRC unhindered access to bring humanitarian aid into Venezuela to support a major scale-up of medical care and other assistance by the Venezuelan Red Cross. With the technical support of the DL team, the National Assembly approved the Red Cross Law in March 2026, strengthening the National Society’s legal base.
