Recognising that EWEA is critical for saving lives and livelihoods and helps prevent or reduce the potential impact of a disaster, and that legal and policy frameworks provide the backbone for EWEA, IFRC Disaster law will hold a virtual Town Hall for African National Societies on how legal frameworks can support EWEA. This is timely given the launch of the Early Warning for All (EW4ALL) initiative, which aims to ensure that every person on earth is protected from hazardous weather, water and climate events through Early Warning Systems by 2027. The EW4ALL initiative includes a commitment to strengthening law and policy for EWEA.
The webinar is targeted at Red Cross and Red Crescent National Societies and will provide an overview of EWEA as well as the role of legal and policy frameworks in enabling EWEA. The session will also showcase the experiences of National Societies in the Africa region in supporting the development of Disaster Risk Management legal and policy frameworks that facilitate EWEA.
The webinar will be facilitated in English with simultaneous translations in French and Portuguese
